On this day at 0700 hours, 1977, I was born. Now, 28 years latter, married, four children, lived in about a dozen countries on four continents, traveled through twice that many, fluent in three languages and learning my fourth (& possibly fifth), and happily serving the Lord in The Family as a FD member. The Lord has blessed me in innumerable ways.
Thankfully, today was my day off. I spent the morning reading with AnG, and after lunch spent quite some time on the
Ubuntu forums and Google, trying to find out if I could recover data from my second 80GB HD, after a “mkfs” formated it, instead of mounting it, as I wanted. Not that it's the fault of the command, just I didn't know that that would FORMAT!! Anyway, all the data there is lost. Thankfully it was just mainly a few kids movies and documentaries, and nothing else very important.
Then, I took AnG out shopping. I thought it rather ironic; here it's my birthday, and I take my wife out shopping. She deserved it, and I got a free ice-cream from a Movenpick “degustation”. After coming home and giving the kids dinner, I took them out to the service station to by beer for us big folks, and a ice-cream for them. I'd forgotten I was on dinner dishes, so had to take care of that after coming home, but it was rather painless. Did some more research about “undelete mkfs” to no avail, then spent an hour or so in the kitchen, drinking some beer and chatting with those that came in and out. Finally decided it was time for bed, since dawn waits for no man, and did a quick check of my messages...only to find out that one of the commercial sites I monitor had been hacked, and a “naked lady” was plastered across the front page. Thankfully, all I had to do was delete the one “index” page to restore the site.
So that wrapped up my rather un-eventful birthday, but Praise God! I am happy to be alive, healthy, active and serving God!
Any belated birthday wishes are welcome, and there is always the
paypal link.
Hope you had a good one.
